Next-gen Nissan GT-R could offer 784 hp

Nissan Concept 2020 Vision Gran Turismo

A new report from MotorTrend indicates the next-generation Nissan GT-R will develop a combined output of 784 hp and 998 Nm of torque.

Specifically, the new GT-R will likely feature a hybrid powertrain which includes a twin-turbo 3.8-liter V6 engine with 650 hp and an electric motor with 134 hp. A newly developed eight-speed transmission will replace the current six-speed DCT.

The report also says the supercar will have an entirely new design which is inspired by the Concept 2020 Vision Gran Turismo, providing efficient cooling to the hybrid system and also to improve aerodynamics.

A concept is expected to be introduced at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show, while the production version will go on sale in 2018.
