Ford has announced the first 2015 Shelby GT350 Mustang will go under the hammer at the Barrett-Jackson collector car auction in Scottsdale, Arizona.

The winning bidder of lot No. 3008 - selling at No Reserve - will become owner of the coveted first retail production unit of the Ford Shelby GT350, and choose from available Shelby GT350 colors and packages.

All proceeds will benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) which aims to "progressively remove the impact of type 1 diabetes from people’s lives until we achieve a world without type 1 diabetes."

As a reminder, the Shelby GT350 is powered by a naturally aspirated 5.2-liter flat-plane crank V8 engine which produces more than 500 hp and 542 Nm of torque. It is mated to a six-speed manual transmission that sends power to the rear wheels via a Torsen limited slip differential.
