Some new details are starting to emerge about the 2017 BMW 6-Series.

According to Car Magazine, the next-generation 6-Series will continue to be offered in three body styles, including Coupe, Convertible and GranCoupe, but they will be sportier and lighter.

The model will ride on the CLAR platform which uses high-strength steel, aluminum, carbon fiber, magnesium and titanium. The Coupe and Convertible are also expected to be smaller which should help to reduce their weight by up to 200 kg.

Engine options remain unconfirmed but the magazine says options will include:
  • A 3.0-liter six-cylinder petrol with 347 hp
  • A 3.0-liter six-cylinder diesel with 333 hp
  • A 4.4-liter V8 with 476 hp
  • A twin-turbo 4.4-litre V8 with 600 hp
