Ferrari 458 Scuderia to be unveiled in Frankfurt

According to Auto Express, Ferrari is planning to introduce the 458 Scuderia at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

Set to compete with the Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera, the 458 Scuderia will become a new performance benchmark in the supercar segment. It is expected to feature an aerodynamic body kit with larger air intakes in the front bumper and wider air vents at the rear.

Under the hood, the 4.5-liter V8 engine in the 458 Italia could be equipped with an optimized ECU and a sportier exhaust system. This enables it to develop over 600 hp - an increase of at least 30 hp.

In addition, the 458 Scuderia will also undergo a dramatic weight loss programme, which is approximately 100 kg lighter than the 458 Italia. This, combined with the engine tweaks, should allow the 458 Scuderia to be faster than the 458 Italia which sprints from 0-100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and hit a top speed in excess of 325 km/h.
