2019 Hyundai SantaFe’s best-in-class safety package enhanced

Blind-Spot View Monitor

The 2019 Hyundai SantaFe has received recognition from across Europe for its innovative and reliable safety credentials.

Since launching last year, the SUV has earned a maximum 5-star rating from Euro NCAP and a SAFETYBEST award for its Rear Occupant Alert technology. After the Nexo, the SantaFe is the second Hyundai model to be equipped with the innovative Blind-Spot View Monitor safety feature.

Blind-Spot View Monitor was an industry-first technology from Hyundai when it came to the Nexo in 2018. Now available with the new SantaFe, it shows drivers the rearward left- and right-hand side views of the SUV on a screen within the driver’s display through the use of cameras activated by the use of the turn indicator as the SantaFe changes lanes in either direction.

The system uses wide-angle surround view monitors on each side of the vehicle to capture areas that cannot be seen by a conventional rear- or side-view mirror. The technology also enhances visibility in difficult driving conditions such as darkness or rainy weather.

Hyundai is the first carmaker to provide drivers with video footage from both sides of the vehicle.

"With the added option of the Blind-Spot View Monitor safety feature, the SantaFe’s renowned array of safety technologies cares about our customers’ well-being to an unprecedented degree. The 4th-generation model of our flagship SUV offers one of the best-in-class safety packages," said Andreas Christoph Hofmann, Vice President Marketing and Product, Hyundai Motor Europe HQ.

The Hyundai SantaFe available with Blind-Spot View Monitor will begin deliveries to European customers in mid-Summer, exact start dates depending on the individual markets.
