Ferrari special editions descend on Tasmania for Targa Tasmania 2017

Ferrari was an iconic feature at this year’s Targa Tasmania, with a large contingent of Ferraris including the limited edition LaFerrari and a recently delivered F12tdf taking part. The event also included the first ever Australian dynamic display of the new V12 GTC4Lusso alongside other current range models such as the 488 GTB and California T.

The notable Ferrari convoy travelled across Tasmania over the course of six days, taking in some of the most spectacular and diverse landscapes in the world. Highlight Targa stages included Sidelings, Hellyer Gorge, and Mount Arrowsmith with their tight corners and smooth tarmac revealing awe-inspiring landscapes at almost every turn. This was the 26th edition of Targa Tasmania, a world class international motorsport event that first commenced in 1992. The rally travelled over 2,000 km with over 40 closed road stages for the true motoring enthusiast.

Aside from the spectacular driving elements of the event, some other highlights for the Ferrari group included meals at some of Tasmania’s best culinary hot spots such as Josef Chromy, Novaro, Geronimo, and The Terrace restaurant in Launceston, Stefano Lubiano winery in Hobart, as well as a private tour and intimate dinner for Ferrari clients at the internationally renowned Museum of Old and New Art.

Targa Fest events in Launceston and Hobart drew thousands of fans to public displays of competitor cars. The Tasmania public also came out en force to support the event across the state, with spectators – young and old – dotted along even the most isolated sections of the course.

Targa Tasmania’s heritage comes from a passionate Italian history dating back to 1906 in Sicily, where the inaugural “Targa Florio” was unveiled. The Targa Tasmania competition also draws concepts directly from the best features of the Italian-based Mille Miglia to create the world’s largest Tarmac Rally with a cross section of marvellously restored classic vehicles as well as the latest in grand touring and sports vehicles.
