A new chapter has been added to the success story of the Opel Insignia. The 750,000th car of Opel’s top-of-the-range model rolled off the assembly line at the Rüsselsheim plant.

The anniversary car is the top-of-the-line Insignia model. The 2.8-liter V6 turbocharged engine has 325 hp and sends 435 Nm of torque to all four wheels. The station wagon accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 6.3 seconds.

In a statement, plant manager Axel Scheiben said "This is a special day for the entire team. We have every reason to be proud of the fact that we have already produced our successful Insignia model 750,000 times." He added, "Our team does an outstanding job day in, day out, manufacturing highly complex vehicles in top quality."

Besides announcing the production of the 750,000th Insignia, Opel also confirmed an additional Insignia variant will be produced in Rüsselsheim later this decade, and will then be sold as a new model from the GM brand Buick in the United States.
