McLaren has confirmed that its road cars will not feature Honda supplied or developed engines.

Last year, Honda disclosed plans to make a Formula 1 return in 2015 when they will power McLaren but the deal between the two companies won't be extended onto road-legal cars as the British marque wants to keep their cars "pure McLaren."

In an interview with Drive, McLaren's director for global sales and marketing Jolyon Nash said "There’s no intention for a partnership with Honda. It won’t happen. I mean that in the nicest way, as we are an independent company - we produce pure McLarens. There is no need for us to go into partnership with another manufacturer."

Jolyon Nash concluded by saying that "the relationship [with Honda] is purely a Formula 1 relationship."
