Ford has announced the production-ready Escort will make its official debut at the Guangzhou Auto Show later this month.
Set to go on sale in China on January 20, the Escort will be positioned between the Fiesta and the Focus. It features the familiar Aston Martin-like front grille with Focus-like headlights.
Inside, the minimalistic cabin comes with six airbags and a Connect Radio system that allows drivers to link their smartphone to the car's infotainment system via Bluetooth connectivity with an outdated small display on the center console.
Motivation is provided exclusively by a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder Ti-VCT gasoline engine which produces 115 hp and 142 Nm of torque. It is mated to either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
The Ford Escort will be manufactured by the Changan-Ford joint venture. Prices will range from 90.000 yuan ($14,715) to 130.000 yuan ($20,900).
