The 500,000th car featured a Misano red exterior and the S line package. It is equipped with a 1.4-liter TFSI engine and is destined for a customer in Germany. His Majesty King Philippe of Belgium visited the Audi plant in Forest, a municipality of Brussels, on this special day.

"The King’s visit on the jubilee of the Audi A1 is a special honor for the Brussels team," stated Audi’s Board of Management Member for Human Resources Thomas Sigi. "Our employees here produce the A1 family with experience, skill and passion, and at the same time demonstrate the international competitiveness of the plant in Belgium."

Audi has been producing its A1 family at the state-of-the-art plant in Brussels for nearly four years now. The company also revealed a number of stats about the car. According to their research, 80% of buyers are new to the brand and 69% buy an A1 with a manual transmission.
