Audi S3 Cabriolet officially revealed

Audi has officially revealed the S3 Cabriolet, ahead of its public debut at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show on March 4.

Available in 12 exterior colors, the S3 Cabriolet is distinguished by new bumpers, aluminum-look mirror housings, aluminum strips on the windshield frame, while the soft top is offered in three different colors and opened or closed in 18 seconds at speeds of up to 50 km/h. The 285-liter luggage compartment can be expanded by folding down the rear seat backs, its volume is 245-liter when the top is down.

The convertible rides on 18-inch five-parallel-spoke alloy wheels wrapped in 225/40 R18 tires. To reduce weight, the wheels are made using an aluminum flow forming process. Audi also offers optional 18- or 19-inch wheels in various designs.

Inside, the cabin is a mix of Pearl Nappa leather and fabric, while combinations of Alcantara and Pearl Nappa leather or Fine Nappa leather and Velvet leather are available as options. Other highlights include S sport seats with integrated head restraints and shoulder panels with diamond stitching, as well as a sport leather steering wheel with the S3 emblem, stainless-steel pedals, aluminum door sills and unique gauges.

Just like the S3 Sedan, the S3 Cabriolet uses a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder TFSI turbocharged petrol engine which produces 300 hp and a maximum torque of 380 Nm. Power is sent to the quattro all-wheel drive system via a six-speed S tronic gearbox which allows the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 5.4 seconds and hit an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h.

In terms of efficiency, the model returns 7.1-liter / 100 km (33.13 mpg US or 39.7 mpg UK) with the S tronic transmission and has CO2 emissions of 165 g/km.

The Audi S3 Cabriolet is slated to go on sale this summer and German pricing starts at €48,500.
