Mercedes-Benz confirms BMW X6 competitor

Two high-level executives within Mercedes-Benz have recently told Car & Driver that a BMW X6 competitor is in the works.

The new crossover will run gear should be virtually unchanged from the ML-Class and offer a choice of six- and eight-cylinder gasoline engines in the United States, while the European market will probably get some diesels as well. There will also be an AMG model at the top of the range.

According to one of the sources cited by Car & Driver, the reasoning behind this decision is to meet an ample demand, while the engineering costs is low and the profit margins will be high.

The model is slated to go on sale late next year and pricing starts at $60,000.
