In a recent interview, Citroen CEO has revealed plans to build a production version of the Wild Rubis concept that introduced at the Shanghai Motor Show earlier this year.

Speaking to Automotive News, Frederic Banzet said the production model, which media reports say could be called the DS7 or DSX7, will be built in China and go into production in late 2014 or early 2015. It will be less radical than the Wild Rubis concept and sold in China and surrounding Asian countries.

As a small reminder, the Wild Rubis concept measures 4,700 mm long, 1,950 mm wide and 1,590 mm tall. Power comes from a plug-in hybrid powertrain which includes a 225 hp 1.6-liter THP petrol engine and 70 hp electric motor. It can run in electric mode for up to 50 km and in hybrid mode has CO2 emissions of only 43 g/km.
