Jaguar has officially unveiled the Project 7 concept, ahead of its dynamic debut at the 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed on July 12.

Created to celebrate Jaguar's seven victories at Le Mans between 1951 and 1990, the Project 7 is a one-off design study based on the F-Type and features a D-type inspired rear fairing section which incorporates a rollover hoop and swoops down from behind the driver's head. The aluminum bodied roadster has also been equipped with a new front bumper, side skirts, an enlarged grille and bespoke carbon fiber aerodynamic components. There's also a fixed rear spoiler, a large rear diffuser and 20-inch Blade forged-alloy wheels with Pirelli P Zero tires.

The cockpit is no less impressive than the exterior. The driver sits in a composite bucket seat, lowered by 30 mm, and is gripped by a four-point racing harness. The passenger seat is replaced by a unique helmet holder which carries a custom-designed Project 7 helmet. The seat and the insides of the doors are finished in a quilted racing-style diamond pattern.

Power comes from a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine which produces 550 hp and 680 Nm of torque. It is linked to an eight-speed Quickshift transmission that allows the sports car to sprint from 0-100 km/h in 4.2 seconds and hit an electronically-limited top speed of 300 km/h.

According to Global Brand Director Adrian Hallmark, "Jaguar's sporting bloodline and innovative ambition are perfectly embodied by Project 7, both through its sensual design, and its shattering performance. Project 7's Goodwood debut will provide a great stage to showcase the creativity of our design and engineering teams."
