Skoda has announced the 2014 Octavia vRS will have a starting price of £22,990 when it goes on sale in the United Kingdom on August 1st.
Currently available for order, the Octavia vRS is based on the third-generation Octavia launched earlier this year and described as the fastest Octavia ever. It is distinguished by new bumpers, LED daytime running lights and a black grille. Other highlights include bi-xenon headlights, mirror caps, a dual exhaust system and 18-inch Gemini anthracite alloy wheels.
Inside, the cabin features sports seats with the vRS logo embossed on the headrests, a leather three-spoke steering wheel and ambient lighting. There's also a touchscreen infotainment system and dual zone air conditioning with humidity sensor and control.
Under the bonnet, two engines are available. The 2.0-liter TSI produces 220 hp which allows the car to sprint from 0-100 km/h in 6.8 seconds and hit a top speed of 248 km/h. Meanwhile, the 2.0-liter TDI develops 184 hp that enables the model accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 8.1 seconds before hitting a top speed of 232 km/h. Both four-cylinder engines are available with the choice of a six-speed manual transmission or a DSG automatic.
To allow drivers to fully exploit the vRS's performance potential, Skoda has engineered a new chassis set up with a lowered ride height (12mm hatch, 13mm estate), an XDS electronically-locking front differential and a new progressive steering system that varies the amount of lock required depending on road speed.
