German carmaker Mercedes-Benz has quietly revealed the 2014 S500 Plug-in Hybrid at a small press briefing, ahead of its official debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

According to Mercedes-Benz Passion Blog, the car is powered by a six-cylinder petrol engine which produces 333 hp and 480 Nm of torque. It is backed up by an 11 hp electric motor which motivates the front wheels. Meanwhile, the engine reportedly powers the rear wheels.

This should allow the sedan to travel at least 30 km on electricity alone. In terms of efficiency, the model returns 3-liter / 100 km (78.4 mpg US or 94.1 mpg UK) and has CO2 emissions of less than 75 g/km.
