Ford is recalling 390,783 cars in the United States for potential fuel leaks, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

"The fuel delivery module may develop a crack at the insert-molded vertical port, allowing fuel to leak," NHTSA said in its summary of the problem. "A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source may result in a fire."

The affected vehicles include the 2013 Explorer (190,896 units), Taurus (79,567), Flex (27,574), Fusion (122,638), Police Interceptor Utility (8,384), Police Interceptor Sedan (11,517), Lincoln MKS (13,381), Lincoln MKT (6,599) and Lincoln MKZ (5,512).

There have been no reports of accidents, injuries or fires related to this condition, according to the North American carmaker.

The recall is expected to begin on July 15 and dealers will replace the fuel delivery module, free of charge. Owners can call Ford at 1-866-436-7332 or NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236.
