Porsche is recalling 2,263 units of the 2012-2013 911 Carrera and Carrera 4 in North America due to a problem with the exhaust tail pipe. This includes 111 units in Canada and 2,152 in the United States.

The affected vehicles were manufactured from March 7, 2012 through November 12, 2012 and equipped with a standard exhaust system.

"On certain vehicles, the exhaust tailpipe can fracture and detach from a muffler. A tailpipe separating from the vehicle could strike another vehicle, a stationary object or a bystander, increasing the risk of a crash," Porsche said in a statement.

The German carmaker has not yet provided a notification schedule, but owners can call Porsche at 1-800-767-7243. Dealers will replace the rear mufflers free of charge.
