Chevrolet Cruze diesel to debut at Chicago Auto Show

2012 Chevrolet Cruze

General Motors spokesman Terry Rhadigan has confirmed that the Chevrolet Cruze diesel will be unveiled on February 7 during a news conference at the 2013 Chicago Auto Show.

Accordingly, the Cruze diesel is one of 13 new or updated Chevrolet models that will be launched in 2013. Production will begin at GM's Lordstown assembly plant near Youngstown, Ohio in the second quarter, with cars hitting dealerships in April or May.

"I'm thrilled with the car," General Motors North America President Mark Reuss told journalists last month in Pontiac. "The car's going to be great."

In related news, Reuss also hinted the company is interested in offering more models with diesel engines in the United States. As previously reported, the diesel trend in the United States will be conducted by other carmakers in the next two years as Jeep already announcing a diesel Grand Cherokee.
