2013 Detroit: 2014 Infiniti Q50

The 2014 Infiniti Q50 has officially made its world debut at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show today.

"This morning we are about to launch Infiniti on a bold new journey, a new Infiniti brand direction built on a foundation of our past and guided by a clear vision for the future," said de Nysschen. "And it starts right here today with the new Infiniti Q50, a vehicle that clearly crystalizes the design, performance and technology direction for a new generation of Infiniti vehicles."

According to the Japanese carmaker, the Q50 is designed to replace the G37 and borrows some design cues from the 2009 Essence Concept, while the inside is also new with higher quality materials. Other highlights include a new Infiniti InTouch communications system with large dual touch-screens, a new "double wave" instrument panel, dual-zone climate control, Bluetooth connectivity and an Around View Monitor.

At launch in the United States, two engines will be available. The 3.7-liter V6 will develop 328 hp and 364 Nm of torque, while the hybrid variant will feature a 3.5-liter V6 engine and an electric motor for a combined output of 354 hp. Both engines are mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission and offered with rear-wheel drive or an optional all-wheel drive.

The 2014 Infiniti Q50 will go on sale worldwide this summer and pricing will be announced closer to launch date.
