Suzuki is recalling 2,830 units of the 2007 XL7 in the United States due to a problem with the faulty fuel pump module.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the fuel pump module could develop a crack on plastic supply or return ports which could cause a fuel leak. Fuel leakage in the presence of an ignition source may result in a fire.

The affected vehicles were produced between June 13, 2006, through December 22, 2006, originally sold or currently registered in Arizona, California, Nevada and Texas.

The Japanese carmaker will notify owners soon and dealers will replace the fuel pump module, free of charge. Meanwhile, owners can contact Suzuki at 1-714-996-7040 or NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236.
