Ferrari F70 to debut in Detroit

According to Inside Line, the production version of the Ferrari F70 will be officially unveiled in January at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show.

Details are limited, but the Enzo successor is expected to have a hybrid powertrain that include a 6.2-liter V12 petrol engine and an F1-inspired KERS gas-electric hybrid system. The total output is 920 horsepower which allows the supercar to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 2.5 seconds and hit a top speed in excess of 408 km/h.

The weight saving is needed to compensate for the added mass of the hybrid system. So the F70 will be equipped with a carbon fiber monocoque chassis which is 20 percent lighter than the original Enzo despite a 27 percent increase in torsional rigidity and a 22 percent gain in beam stiffness.
