Chevrolet has officially announced the 2014 Corvette (C7) will make its public debut at the 2013 Detroit Motor Show on January 13. Instead of a teaser photo, the North American carmaker released the new Crossed Flags logo which will be featured on the new car.

The C7 will be almost entirely new, except for the rear latch for the removable roof panel and the cabin air filter. Rumors also says that the sports car will feature a carbon fiber roof, a large grille, LED infused headlights, ventilated front fenders, Camaro inspired taillights, heated and cooled front seats and a four-tailpipe system.

"The all-new Corvette deserved an all-new emblem. The new Crossed Flags design reflects the character of the next Corvette. The flags are much more modern, more technical, and more detailed than before - underscoring the comprehensive redesign of the entire car", said GM vice president of global design, Ed Welburn.

Under the hood, the seventh-generation Corvette is expected to be powered by a 5.5-liter V8 engine with direct-injection that produces 440 hp, mated to a seven-speed manual transmission.

The production of the 2014 Corvette will start in August or September next year, while the assembly plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky is expected is retooled in February in order to build the new Corvette.
