Renault to co-develop an Alpine successor

At the Goodwood Festival of Speed, Renault's Chief Operating Officer, Carlos Tavares, has revealed the brand is in discussion with another carmaker to jointly-develop an Alpine A110 successor.

Although Tavares refused to disclose the name of this manufacturer, but speculation suggests the model will be developed in collaboration with Mercedes or Nissan.

"What is clear is that if we want to build a great car - which is the only way we will build an Alpine - then we must share the burden of development costs," commented Tavares. "I am working in that direction, but it is too early to say if the discussions will be a success."

If everything pans out, the A110 successor could be launched in 3-5 years and cost approximately £45,000.
