2012 Chrysler 300 Mopar special edition announced

To celebrate Mopar's 75th anniversary, Chrysler has announced plans to introduce a new limited edition version of the Chrysler 300 at the Chicago Auto Show, called the 2012 Mopar 300.

Available this summer, the model is distinguished by a black chrome grille, tinted headlights, blue pin stripes on the profile and hood and “Mopar 75” fender badges. There's also a sport-tuned suspension, high-performance brakes and 20-inch wheels with Goodyear Eagle F1 tires.

Inside, the cabin features perforated Katzkin leather seats, a thick-rimmed steering wheel, a unique Mopar shifter handle, carbon fiber trim, special sill plates and badges. Other highlights include a new gear knob, an Alpine audio system and a Uconnect Touch infotainment system.

Power comes from an 5.7-liter V8 engine with 363 hp. Thanks to a revises gearbox, stiffer suspension and stickier tires, the sedan accelerates from 0-96 km/h in the "low 5-second range."

Only 500 units will be built and pricing will start at $49,700, which includes $825 for destination.
