GM will invest $245 million into its Orion Assembly plant to support launching an all-new vehicle program unlike any in the plant’s 32-year history.

Details are limited, but Cathy Clegg, General Motors North America vice president of Manufacturing and Labor Relations, said: "The plant is up to the challenge of building this brand-new product, something it’s never seen before."

A General Motors spokesperson also told Automotive News the model would go into production in the next three or four years. It will be build alongside the Chevrolet Bolt EV which is expected to cost approximately $30,000 and achieve more than 322 km of range on a single electric charge.
