Nissan considering a sportier Qashqai to rival the Evoque

According to Automotive News Europe, Nissan may consider plans to build a sportier version of the new Qashqai to compete with the Range Rover Evoque.

Marco Fioravanti - Nissan Europe's general manager for product planning and strategy - recently declared a coupe-styled Qashqai could win sales in Europe where the Range Rover Evoque started a trend toward crossover coupes.

A Nissan spokesman also confirmed a coupe-like Qashqai is under consideration and the car could be launched in the next several years.

The Japanese carmaker will not build a Qashqai hybrid variant as Fioravanti said "Our traditional engines have excellent fuel consumption. We want to keep an high 'value for money' formula on the Qashqai."
