Latest news roundup from Vauxhall

Vauxhall Showroom

It’s been a busy month for UK car company Vauxhall. Their Astra has become the Clear Fleet solution for National Windscreens and they’ve recently partnered up with Ingenie to offer young drivers the chance to secure more affordable car insurance. This is welcome news in light of the upcoming implementation of gender equality policies on car insurance, which is to see insurance prices for women soar. In addition, Vauxhall have this year showcased their new Opel Adam city car, which is due to be released in early 2013, and the new Mokka compact SUV.

The Opel/Vauxhall Adam

Set to be released as the Vauxhall Adam in the UK, this new premium compact city car has been designed around the Corsa E platform and will have plenty of features, including ESP, Hill Start Assist and a city steering mode with power assistance. As well as this, the Adam has an optional seven inch screen that’s capable of plugging into a smartphone and replicating its interface. A four cylinder engine makes this a nippy little machine, capable of competing easily with any other compact city car on the market.

The Opel/Vaxuhall Mokka

The Mokka, as it’s to be known, is a mini SUV/compact crossover which will be available to buy at the end of 2012. The 1.6 comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox and the rest have 6-speed manual gearboxes, apart from the 1.7 CDTI which will feature automatic gears as an option. The Telegraph described it as ‘a small but spacious soft-roader’ and it’s predicted to appeal to those who are looking for a practical 4X4 vehicle without compromising on design or luxury. Features include front and rear facing cameras as well as lane departure warning and traffic sign recognition.

Affordable Vauxhall Cars

The Vauxhall Adam is to be released with a recommended sale price of £11,000. The Mokka is predicted to be slightly more expensive, at around £15,000. They’re both good prices for what you’d be getting, however may be out of the reach of some. For those on a budget it might be worth checking out second hand Vauxhalls for a more affordable way of securing a decent Vauxhall vehicle. Second hand vehicles, treated well and properly maintained, can be an affordable luxury, and if you go to a reputable dealer you’ll be assured of getting a quality car, no matter your price range.
