2011 Tokyo: Daihatsu Pico EV Concept

Daihatsu has introduced the PICO EV Concept in Tokyo.

According to the carmaker, the vehicle is 2,400 mm long, 1,000 mm wide and 1,530 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 1,830 mm. It offers a tandem seating layout, with access being granted by a protective door.

Daihatsu says that the PICO tips the scales at just 400kg (or about 880 pounds).

Power comes from an electric motor with an estimated range of 50 km (31 miles) and hit a top speed of 50 km/h. As for the charging time, the battery needs two hours to be fully replenished.

2011 Tokyo: Nissan PIVO 3 Concept

Nissan has recently released the PIVO 3 Concept at the Tokyo Motor Show.

According to the Japanese automaker, the PIVO 3 Concept features the Automated Valet Parking (AVP), a system that can park the vehicle automatically in specially-equipped parking lots. The car can also recharge itself while it waits for its driver to return. The car can then be called via a smartphone whereupon it returns to pick up the driver, but we must wait in order to do this at least a few more years.

The PIVO 3 measures just under 3,000 mm in length and seats three in a 1+2 layout, running on electricity and featuring by-wire controls for a more spacious cabin and less mechanics. Cabin technology includes a Robotic Agent, which is basically a computerized personal assistant for the driver. The interior is finished in leather and silver-hued trim with EV Blue and Snow White color schemes.

An another concept of Suzuki has been introduced at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show - the Q-Concept.

The concept is a tandem two-seater electric vehicle, measuring only 2.5 meters in length. It’s designed for short journeys within 10 km. Power comes from an electric motor and an usual battery pack with an estimated range of 50 km (31 miles) and a top speed of 60 km/h.
