Luxgen5 - Taiwan's first sedan model

Luxgen has unveiled their 5 sedan, ahead of its world premiere at the 2012 Taipei Auto Show next April.

According to the Taiwanese automaker, the Luxgen5 is the production version of the Neora EV concept study which was exhibited at the 2011 Shanghai Auto Show earlier this year.

As you can see in the pictures, the model has a prominent grille, LED-infused headlights and an aerodynamic body. Inside, the cabin gets leather seats, an LCD/LED instrument cluster and aluminum trim.

Power comes from a choice of two turbocharged 4-cylinder engines: a 1.8-liter VVT with 150 hp and 231 Nm of torque or a 2.0-liter VVT with 170 hp and 256 Nm of torque. Both engines is connected to a six-speed automatic transmission, allowing the sedan to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 8.5 seconds and hit a top speed of 210 km/h.

Other highlights include ABS, EBD electronic brake-force distribution, a BAS brake assist system, an ESC electronic stability control system and a TCS traction control system, along with an Android-based THINK  Touch infotainment system that was co-developed with HTC that comes with a large nine-inch touchscreen incorporated in the center console.

Luxgen Neora concept - Groundbreaking Technology

Luxgen - Taiwan carmaker has unveiled a groundbreaking new plug-in saloon. According to Luxgen, the Neora uses electric induction motor, capacity of 241 hp combined with the aerodynamic design helps the car accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 6.5 seconds, top speed of 250 km/h.

With an impressive claimed range of 249 miles per charge – way over twice as far as a Nissan Leaf and Mitsubishi i-MiEV will travel – and with much more power than both of them combined, the Neora is an enticing proposition.

The interior is packed with technology including a heads up display, a LED screen for rear passengers and another nine inch screen on the dash for navigation functions and communication with other vehicles. The Neora’s centre console uses recycled wood, which is free from processing and dyeing.

LUXGEN has hinted that the concept will become a reality, but not whether it will make it to the UK.
