2012 Chrysler 300 Mopar special edition announced


To celebrate Mopar's 75th anniversary, Chrysler has announced plans to introduce a new limited edition version of the Chrysler 300 at the Chicago Auto Show, called the 2012 Mopar 300.

Available this summer, the model is distinguished by a black chrome grille, tinted headlights, blue pin stripes on the profile and hood and “Mopar 75” fender badges. There's also a sport-tuned suspension, high-performance brakes and 20-inch wheels with Goodyear Eagle F1 tires.

Inside, the cabin features perforated Katzkin leather seats, a thick-rimmed steering wheel, a unique Mopar shifter handle, carbon fiber trim, special sill plates and badges. Other highlights include a new gear knob, an Alpine audio system and a Uconnect Touch infotainment system.

Power comes from an 5.7-liter V8 engine with 363 hp. Thanks to a revises gearbox, stiffer suspension and stickier tires, the sedan accelerates from 0-96 km/h in the "low 5-second range."

Only 500 units will be built and pricing will start at $49,700, which includes $825 for destination.

2013 Volkswagen Beetle TDI coming to Chicago


Volkswagen has announced plans to introduce the 2013 Beetle TDI at the 2012 Chicago Auto Show in February.

The German automaker didn’t announce any official details about it, but rumors says that the car will be powered by a 2.0-liter turbo diesel engine with 140 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque. The engine is available with both the six-speed manual transmission and the DSG.

Hyundai Shouwang BHCD-1 concept unveiled


Beijing Hyundai Motor Company (BHMC), the joint venture between Hyundai and Beijing Automotive, has unveiled the Shouwang BHCD-1 concept at the 2011 Guangzhou Motor Show.

According to the carmaker, the BHCD-1 previews a production model which will be launched under the new Shouwang brand name in China. However, styling is likely to be revised before it hits the streets.

Specific details on the engine and drivetrain remain a mystery, but the model is reportedly a hybrid and could be based on the Elantra.

2013 Lexus GS 250 unveiled


Lexus has unveiled the 2013 GS 250 at the Guangzhou Motor Show in China.

According to Lexus, the new GS 250 is powered by a 2.5-liter V6 engine with 209 hp at 6,400 rpm and 343 Nm of torque at 4,800 rpm. It is connected to a standard '6 Super ECT' close-ratio six-speed automatic transmission, allowing the sedan to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 8.6 seconds and hit a top speed of 228 km/h.

In terms of efficiency, the model returns a combined fuel economy of 8.9-liter/100 km while having CO2 emissions of 207 g/km.

Specific details to be released nearer the time of launch next year.

Honda to debut Li Nian S1 in China Auto Show

Honda has introduced a new small sedan - Li Nian S1 - at the International Automobile Exhibition China 2010 is taking place in Guangzhou.


Brand Li Nian - Guangqi Honda venture between Honda and Guangzhou Automobile Group, created specifically for the Chinese market.

Li Nian S1 is the actual production version of Everus Concept, the car was unveiled at the Guangzhou Motor Show in April.

Honda said, Li Nian S1 aimed at young people in China. This car will be marketed from next year with two gasoline engines: 1.3L and 1.5L.
