Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 ready for 2013 Nürburgring 24 Hours

Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3

Aston Martin has recently announced the V12 Vantage GT3 will compete in this weekend's ADAC Zurich Nürburgring 24 Hours.

Dressed in Bilstein livery, the Bilstein-sponsored car will be driven by a team of experienced Aston Martin Racing's works drivers, including Darren Turner (GB), Stefan Mücke (D), Allan Simonsen (DN) and Pedro Lamy (PT).

Motivation is provided by a modified 6.0-liter V12 engine that can produce more than 600 hp and 700 Nm of torque, but it is restricted by race regulations to approximately 550 hp.

David King, Director of Special Projects and Motorsport at Aston Martin, said: "This remarkable race, with more than 200 starters, has grown enormously in status since we first entered a nearly standard V8 Vantage back in 2006. It is fitting that our most ambitious and competitive entry yet coincides with our centenary year, but we face a tough challenge from more than 30 world-class GT3 entries, with the German sports car manufacturers in particular represented in force."

Aston Martin V12 Vantage in Titanium Silver

Aston Martin has recently announced plans to introduce a V12 Vantage-based sports car at the 24 Hours of Nurburgring in May.

Speaking to Autocar at the Geneva Motor Show, Aston Martin CEO Dr. Ulrich Bez said the model will be called the CC100 and will be influenced by the DBR1 race car. It will have no doors or roof, meaning it will essentially be similar to the Lamborghini Aventador J albeit without scissor doors.

Production will be limited to 2 units: one to celebrate the company's centenary and another to commemorate Stirling Moss's legendary win at the 1959 Nurburgring 1,000 km at the wheel of a DBR1.

No pricing has been revealed, but the CC100 is expected to slot somewhere between the £1,400,000 One-77 and the £330,000 V12 Zagato.

Two Aston Martin DBS supercars spotted in Vietnam

Two Aston Martin DBS supercars you see in the photos have recently been spotted by in Quang Ninh, Vietnam. Our reader says that this is the first DBS to appear in the S-shaped country, even under the temporary import for re-export, before moving to China.

The DBS is the first production Aston Martin to make extensive use of ultra-light carbon-fiber body panels, which results in high levels of performance and control thanks to the combination of inherent light weight, near-perfect weight distribution, a powerful and flexible V12 engine.

This 6.0-liter V12 engine produces 510 hp at 6,500 rpm and 570 Nm of torque at 5,750 rpm. This allows the sports car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.3 seconds and hit a top speed of 307 km/h.

In Vietnam, the 2012 Aston Martin DBS has a starting price of more than $550,000. This is a truly staggering number while it only costs $275,461 in the United States.
